Are you passionate about the outdoors? Do you love chatting to people? Do you want to make a difference to the Dorset Heaths?
The Dorset Heaths Partnership (DHP) is looking to recruit two seasonal wardens. You will be working as part of the multi-disciplined team carrying out heathland mitigation within the Dorset Council area. The Dorset Heaths Partnership help to enhance and protect the globally important heathland habitat that we are lucky enough to have here in Dorset. Small changes in the way visitors use the heathlands can make a big difference to the wildlife. Dorset Heaths Partnership seasonal wardens play a key role in helping people understand how they can help their local heaths.
The roles will involve daily site visits to heathland sites across the Dorset Council area from Purbeck to Verwood. You will be liaising with land managers and engaging with site visitors inspiring them to respect and protect the heathland habitat. Seasonal wardens will also attend local community events and provide social media content to promote the messages of the Partnership.
We are looking for someone who is passionate and self-motivated. You should hold a qualification linked to countryside management and if possible, a knowledge of the heathland habitat and species. The successful candidate will be confident in communicating with the public on site and at local events. You will be working alone on site in all weathers as well as with other team members. This includes those delivering the monitoring, Dorset Dogs, Firewise and BARI projects.
