We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic practioner and project manager with a passion for play and woodlands. Extensive practical experience of preparing, co-ordinating and overseeing forest schools, environmental play, elemental play or educational activities in an outdoor setting is needed. A driving licence and use of your own transport is essential. The post will require working 15 to 22 hours per week per week. The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records Disclosure form in line with Section 113 of The Police Act 1997. It is intended to hold interviews in early October 2008. The area is dominated by dramatic escarpments and upland plateaus, combined with iron-age forts, ruined abbeys and a medieval castle. The Project team will work with local communities to increase their understanding of the area and enable them to become actively involved in managing their local heritage. The project team will consist of 2 people with the following qualities; Lime and Ice Project Officer (contract to July 2013) £25,320- £28,172 pa with potential progression to £31,606 ● Excellent project and budget management skills; ● Previous work with communities in the heritage sector; ● Experience of working successfully with partner organisations. Main tasks will be: ● To develop, implement and manage an effective research programme on heather burning in the uplands of northern England. ● To achieve the above through a combination of personal research and the management of associated research assistants and students ● To prepare and present research proposals to both the Trust’s internal research committees and to external funding bodies. ● To present the Trust’s research findings through a combination of internal and public presentations and through maintaining an active record of publications within high quality peer reviewed scientific journals.
