Based on Tristan da Cunha Island, South Atlantic Ocean 6 month Fixed Term contract full time 37.5 hours per week The RSPB is seeking to appoint a Marine Biologist to support the implementation of the Darwin Plus project “Sustainable Management of the marine environment and resources of Tristan da Cunha”. The postholder will gather information to improve understanding of the functioning of the shallow water marine ecosystems of the Tristan islands, leading to better-informed decisions on the use of marine natural resources and a better understanding of and preparedness for the likely impacts of climate change in the marine environment. The role will involve underwater survey work (diving) and will work closely with the Tristan community.

Project Manager to implement our new Darwin Plus project “Sustainable
Management of the marine environment and resources of Tristan da Cunha”.
The postholder will lead investigation of the inshore biology of Tristan
lobsters. This will involve diving and remote sampling, and will include
the use of plankton hauls, larval traps and tagging. The post-holder
will also provide training to Tristan da Cunha Fisheries Department
staff in sampling, data recording, statistics and data processing.
Woodland
Management Officer - to be based at its Moira office, near
Swadlincote, Derbyshire. The post will be responsible for giving advice to landowners on
woodland management for the development and delivery of sustainable
woodland management in existing mature woods and younger woods planted
from the early 1990s onwards. Particular focus will be on woodlands
approaching first thinning, with other important works focussing on deer
and squirrel control, tree health management and developing the Forest’s
growing woodland economy. The postholder will be a key part of a small
team delivering one of the most ambitious forest creation and woodland
management programmes in the country.
This full time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s most respected and longest established ecological consultancies. The successful candidate will join our team of licensed bat surveyors, assist on a range of other ecological surveys and provide support for data collation and analysis.
£19,683 - £21,579 Fixed-term You will assist in the day to day management and maintenance of the County Council's Country Parks. The role will involve working with the Country Parks Team and a range of partners and contractors to deliver high quality visitor facilities with a particular focus on health and safety. Daily tasks involve land and habitat maintenance and improvement, working with the public and volunteers and attending to facilities issues as they arise.
Salary: Full time salary range £22,698 to £25,903 per annum. Pro rata this equates to a range of £11,349 to £12,952 per annum. The Black to Green Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund,
wishes to make a step change in engaging the local community through a
volunteer and education programme that connects people with the
landscape change. This is for an initial development phase of the project, with an
expectation that the main Delivery Phase will follow for a further three
years subject to fundraising, but applicants should be aware that this
post is for the development phase period of 12 months.

You will work with schools, youth clubs, young people and families to deliver education projects such as ‘young people and heritage’. You will develop a ‘one stop shop’ to link education activity with other organisations, develop a team of Europarc Junior Rangers, develop curriculum linked action plans and a new range of family activities.
