About the role

Wasdale is one of England’s most iconic landscapes and a popular visitor destination, currently attracting in excess of 225,000 visitors per year. But keeping the great outdoors great is no small feat, and helping more and more people to enjoy it is one of our big challenges. And if anyone loves a big challenge, it’s you. You’ll play a key role in enhancing visitor and community engagement, whilst maintaining excellent standards of presentation, conservation and care across this very special place. You’ll make sure that, at every twist and turn of this fantastic landscape, we’re delivering outstanding outdoor experiences and excellent conservation work. So from working to protect this beautiful place to fostering and nurturing good relationships with tenants, visitors and partners in the community, no two days will be the same. You’ll also be responsible for the delivery of the day-to-day management of the Wasdale Countryside portfolio being in charge of the budgets, work plans and team (including volunteers) to deliver this work.

             

About you

Like everyone here, you love the outdoors. And you’ll love the chance to help more and more people get out there and get active. We’d like you to have equivalent practical experience (eg fencing, dry stone walling, hedging etc) and the ability to lead motivate and personally develop your Ranger team. With strong knowledge of managing operations including budgets and promoting quality visitor experiences, you’ll also have a passion for providing the highest levels of customer care and community working. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable, you’ll already have some knowledge of relevant Health and Safety and experience in land management, conservation and access management. Above all, you’ll enjoy sharing your passion and knowledge with visitors, making sure that they have a fantastic outdoor experience. A DBS disclosure and a driving licence are required for this role.
