Norfolk Wildlife Trust
Norfolk Wildlife Trust
owns and manages nature reserves throughout the
county, most of which are designated as sites of national or international
scientific importance for the biodiversity they support. We also manage
land for wildlife conservation on behalf of others and help to advise
landowners on how they can provide and manage habitats for wildlife on their
land. We have five visitor centres at which we offer hospitality, education
and sales to members and visitors. Our head office is based in Norwich, with
excellent road and rail links.
NWT was the first Wildlife Trust, established in 1926.
Over 80 years later we are still protecting Norfolk’s wildlife through
sympathetic management across large areas of land and working towards a high
quality, sustainable environment for wildlife and people. We work with many
organisations including Environment Agency, Natural England and charitable
bodies.
Our work encompasses many aspects of conservation and
education. Our field staff maintain NWT nature reserves and other sites. The
conservation team extend our influence beyond nature reserves to ensure
wildlife is protected in the planning and regulatory framework and not
threatened by damaging activities. We run educational sessions for schools,
groups, children and adults throughout the year, helping people to
appreciate, understand and reconnect with their wildlife heritage. Norfolk
Wildlife Services is the consultancy arm of NWT, undertaking protected
species work, ecological impact assessments and giving advice on our behalf.
We also have fundraising, marketing, membership and administration teams to
ensure the continued success of Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
NWT staff are supported with training courses and
regular 1:1s. In addition to good rates of pay, there is a staff pension and
holiday allowance. Staff get free entry to all the nature reserves and there
is secure free parking at the head office in Norwich. There is also the
sense of achievement, in knowing your work each day has real benefits for
the people and wildlife of Norfolk.
