Bill, stones and jobs...

Lucky old Bill – he's got a get well card from his cousin in New Zealand, now not every collie can say that!!

There have been strange goings on in the district – last week a series of mysterious stone heads appeared in the village and now they've been sighted elsewhere too, read all about it in the Whitby Gazette – click here.

In the midst of the spookiness the equinox storms have been raging (well, grumbling a bit) but the newly repaired roof is holding up well and once it stops raining the last bits of painting and tidying up will be finished too. This week we've seen the first flock of long-tailed tits flying through so we must clean the big feeders and get them out so the birds can get used to them again before they really need them. And through it all CJS keeps rumbling on, CJS Weekly is now printing, this week it's 15 sides containing details of 124 vacancies, 43 of which were sent direct to CJS.

Good news

Bill came through his operation very well and is now back home with a very impressive scar and nine stitches in his shoulder. He's already walking more soundly and getting fed up of being caged – sorry, restrained in an indoor kennel!

Dog news

Well Hebe's put her mark on the office – or rather her tooth prints in one of the invoice folders! Ah, the joys of Labrador puppies!! Bill (AN's collie pup) is now nine months old and as his sore shoulder didn't get any better he went under the knife yesterday. The surgeon says it all went well and after surgery like this an improvement can usually be seen in a week to ten days, so fingers crossed; he comes home this afternoon.

Proper CJS information now! CJS Weekly went according to plan and is now dropping off the printers, this week it's 10 sides with 65 new paid UK jobs of which 27 were sent direct to CJS. There's a new page on the website too, it tells you all about the types of jobs you can expect to find within the pages of CJS and the employers who advertise, read it here: http://www.countryside-jobs.com/Jobs/Types.htm

Oh Bother…

…or words to that effect!

We've just received an email update from CWU informing us that there will be more postal strike in October – and this time it looks like it will affect delivery of CJS Weekly. Two lots of 48 hour strike action followed by a rolling programme of walk outs. As ever we'll keep you informed and you can always check our website.

It's a bit noisy here!

What was that? I can't hear you! I said IT'S A BIT NOISY HERE!!

We've got the builders in – or rather on the roof which is being patched up and made sound, new ridge tiles, cracked tiles being replaced etc. I never realised it would involve so much crashing and banging, so apologies if when you phone us there are strange noises in the background or we're shouting at you. It should all be done soon.

The printers are now running (adding to the general cacophony) churning out copies of CJS Weekly which this week is eleven sides and has details of the last of the Monthly jobs (some were in last week's copy) which gives us a total of 90 new paid posts, 46 of which were direct to CJS.

CJS Monthly and news about the post.

After a bit of panic (one piece of artwork was taking the scenic cyber route via Pluto!) CJS Monthly is now printing. This month it's seven sides again with an additional four pages of events. And it contains an ad for CJS, yes, we're recruiting again. This time we need a part-time admin assistant – think you fit the bill? Then log on and read more.

In other news, we've had two communications about the post. First we heard from our local Royal mail sorting office that they're ceasing Sunday collections (nationwide not just in our little corner), we're looking at how this will affect CJS Weekly deliveries. And the other postage news comes from CWU (the posties union) the long running talks between the union and RM have broken down without any resolution so there are more strikes heading our way. Remember to log onto to the Royal Mail page of the website to find out what's happening and how it's affecting CJS.

Weekly update.

Sorry there's not been any interesting news for you this week but it's been a wee bit busy. Everyone's getting back in the swing of things after the bank holiday. Which has given us a thirteen sided CJS Weekly and a small splurge of ads online and booked for next week's Monthly edition. It's just about all printed and will soon be winging its way to you. This week's edition has 101 new paid posts including 43 sent direct to CJS.

And don't forget the two surveys currently running, tell us what you really think, not what you think we'd like to hear – go on we can take it , honest!
