Job Description: You will update and maintain several databases from which a series of mailing lists will be compiled on a weekly and monthly basis. In addition you will enter and manipulate data in large spreadsheets, excerpts of which will be copied to our website. An important area will be assisting with the preparation of our newsletters which will involve writing accurate précis to the in-house style from longer source material.
Skills and qualities required: You must be computer literate, able to use word and excel and ideally access although full training will be provided. A good standard of written English is required. Accuracy rather than speed is preferred, although you must be able to work to regular, often tight deadlines. You will be a friendly, team worker but able to work on your own initiative. A knowledge of the countryside and conservation sectors would be an advantage. We work co-operatively to ensure all tasks are completed and deadlines met and you will join in with this co-operative effort, therefore, you need to be flexible in your attitude to work. We are a small close-knit team which means the most important element is how you fit into this existing team. Unfortunately, this isn't quantifiable, except perhaps by the office dogs – three resident Labradors and one visiting Irish Wolfhound which means you must like dogs!
Hours: 9-5 Thursday and Friday or if preferred 9-12.30 Tuesday, 1-5 Thursday and 9 to 3.30 (or until 5) Friday. As you become familiar with CJS there will be more hours available and you will be given your own areas of responsibility. There may be the potential for some home working in addition to the office hours.
Contract: Self-employed basis on a one year rolling contract, subject a six week probationary period.
Pay & benefits: c. £8 per hour We also operate a profit share scheme which you may be invited to join. We offer a friendly, working environment. It helps you're slightly crackers (we are!)
